Electro- Mechanical Instrument Assembler

Our client based in East Grinstead are a UK-based group of scientific and engineering-based companies.  Who are suppliers of calorimeters, NBS smoke chambers and oxygen indexes and make more than 40 different fire test instruments. Who offer fantastic company benefits.

Our client requires an electro-mechanical instrument assembler build instruments and spares from their range of fire science instruments. Working as part of the production team the instrument assembler will have responsibility for building assemblies and complete instruments ready for the Test and Installation team to perform final tests and shipment to their customers worldwide.

Tasks and main responsibilities:

• Assembly of electro-mechanical subsystems and complete instruments

• Gas, water and pneumatic plumbing in copper, stainless steel and plastic tubing

• Loom wiring

• Wiring of control units and interface boxes.

• Fine mechanical assembly of delicate glass and ceramic assemblies

• Large scale mechanical assembly

• Cladding using calcium silicate board

Essential Skills and Abilities:

• Mechanical assembly experience at large scale and fine assembly level

• Experience of plumbing gas, water or pneumatic systems in copper, stainless steel, nylon or PTFE

• Experience of control system wiring e.g., control boxes, 19” rack systems

• Experience of fabricating wiring looms

• Attention to detail

• Effective team player

• Ability to work on own initiative with a pro-active approach to challenges.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of pre-testing assemblies or instruments.

Benefits

39 per week.  Pre-arranged flexible working and a 12:00 finish on a Friday, Pension contributions up to 5%.  25 days holiday plus bank holidays per annum. with 1 additional day accrued for every 5 years’ service. Along with an incentive plan:  Available after 3 months, contributions up to £1800 per annum, contributions up to £600.
